Router Bit Support for Your ChestMate Dovetail Jig
Understanding what router bits are needed to properly support your new ChestMate is paramount. The cutters needed
are standard therefore allowing you to choose from many manufacturers. However, presentation of the router bits is not
always complete creating confusion when selecting them. I strongly recommend not purchasing any bit advertised
without all of the detail shown below.
You only need two router bits for your standard 14 degree dovetail projects. They are a 14 degree 3/4 diameter
dovetail bit and a 5/16 inch diameter straight cutting bit.
Dovetail Bit

7/8 inch minimum

A very large selection of ROUTER GUIDE BUSHINGS are
on the market. They are not expensive, especially if
purchasing a single one instead of a kit. Many times it is
necessary to replace the manufacturer's standard plastic
base of your router with a more versatile one that can
accommodate a guide bushing. These are not expensive
either.
The guide bushing you will need when using the ChestMate
Dovetail Jig should be a 5/8 inch diameter times 1/2 inch
long. This is a standard router guide bushing.
